Our diverse group of expert fitness coaches are experienced in CrossFit, gymnastics, endurance, powerlifting, weightlifting, mobility and general physical fitness. No matter what your goals are, we are dedicated to helping you achieve them in a safe and supportive environment.

From the moment you walk into CrossFit 386, you will notice a very different dynamic compared to a traditional gym. We believe in using a collaborative team approach to training our athletes and helping them discover their true potential. So whether it is CrossFit movements, Olympic Weightlifting, mobility, endurance, speed, power, mental stamina or nutrition we’ve got your back.

Each member of our coaching team brings a vast amount of expertise both in and out of the gym to give all our members the best possible experience. We don’t just talk the talk. We walk the walk. Day in and day out.

Jay Fondacaro – Owner & Coach 

Jay started his CrossFit journey back in 2017 with CrossFit 386. From there, he would become a coach and eventually the owner of 386. As a CrossFit Level 2 trainer, Jay looks to bring enthusiasm, clear direction, and a fun atmosphere to each class.

Jay has always been active, playing as many sports as possible throughout the years. Primarily focusing on wrestling, lacrosse, and football. Eventually, he took his talents to East Stroudsburg University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management and a Master’s Degree in Project Management.

Providing a quality product to the place that Jay calls home, Port Orange, is exactly what CrossFit 386 aims for. Living in his newly completed home with his fiance, Lena, and his three dogs, EV, Cooper, and Ava, means he is here to stay, and so is the mission at CrossFit 386.

Alex Richard – Coach

Alex Richard started coaching at CrossFit 386 in December of 2022. He also currently works at DME Academy full time where he is the Director of Sports Performance for over 300 student-athletes.

Richard earned his bachelors degree in Health Promotion & Wellness from Wisconsin Stevens Point in 2016. He was also a member of the men’s basketball team during his time in Stevens Point.

Following his undergraduate degree, Alex worked as the Director of Strength & Conditioning for men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and women’s soccer at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2017-2021. He also obtained his masters degree in exercise science while at USM.

Richard is a certified strength and conditioning specialist from the NSCA as well as being a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.

His top fitness goal would be to compete in a North America East semifinal as an individual or team competitor.

Anna Grace Wilburn – Coach

Anna Grace was raced in Auburn, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University in 2023 with degrees in Business and Exercise Scienve. She fell in love with CrossFit a little over two years ago, and her love for the sport grows everyday.

AG is currently a student at Palmer College of Chiropractic, combining her love for fitness and a passion for healthy living.

Blain Segura – Coach

Blain is as Florida as you can get. Growing up in South Florida he spent a majority of his time fishing, playing sports, and being outdoors. Blain attended the University of Central Florida where he studied Kinesiology, eventually earning his Masters of Athletic Training.

Blain moved to Port Orange, Florida to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. He has been following the CrossFit methodology for 2 years and has found a passion for competition at CrossFit 386

Gordie Cheyne – Coach

Gordie was born and raised in Fort Pierce, Florida. Growing up he played every sport that was available to him, eventually settling on football throughout high school. His first experience with CrossFit was through a CrossFit kids summer camp while he was in middle school. Gordie immediately fell in love with the sport as it directly related to his love for competing with a team and the community feeling.

Gordie graduated from the University of Florida in 2021, Cum Laude with a Business degree. From there, he decided to follow in his parents’ footsteps, pursuing a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. This decision brought him to Port Orange, Florida where he has been a member of CrossFit 386 since the first month he came to town.

Gordie loves the community at CrossFit 386 and the motivation that is continues to provide him. He enjoys welcoming new members to our community so that they can also enjoy the community the way that he has.

Sammie Nelson – Coach

Sammie was born and raised in Western Central Ohio (Go Buckeyes!). Eventually she got tired of the cold and decided to head south, moving to DeLand, Florida in 2015 where she attended Stetson University. Sammie graduated from Stetson in 2019 where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology.

Sammie recently graduated from Logan University where she earned her Masters Degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation. With this degree she hopes to help individuals maximize their performance and limit their injuries.

As a full-time mom to a young daughter, Sammie is extremely passionate about CrossFit and the positive impacts it has on both mental and physical health. Her main goals as a CrossFit coach include helping athletes find themselves in the gym and helping them understand how their body works. Sammie has a passion for coaching young athletes as well as pregnant and postpartum women.
