Things To Know

“You don’t have to be great to start but you do have to start to be great.”

1. What makes CrossFit different?

CrossFit is a workout methodology based on constantly varied high intensity movements that help improve your ability to live everyday life. Compared to a standard gym experience where most people float from machine to machine without any rhyme or reason, CrossFit takes the guess work out of the equation by providing a programmed workout that serves a specific purpose.

You are more than just a number at CrossFit 386. Unlike “globo-gyms” where you sign-up and then are left to your own devices, our team will be with you every step of the way.

With CrossFit your body is always being challenged in new ways and never getting accustomed to any one particular movement. As a result, your body is receiving maximum benefits and your mind never gets bored. Not to mention being surrounded by a community of motivated individuals who want to see each other succeed makes the whole experience that much more gratifying.

We are committed to helping you achieve your goals and earning your business each and every time you walk into the gym.

2. Is CrossFit safe? What if I have a pre-existing injury?

Just like in any sport or realm of fitness, poor form can and most likely will lead to serious injury. We require new members to participate in a fundamentals course so they can establish a solid understanding of CrossFit, our program and facility, various weightlifting movements, nutrition and mobility before taking your first class. This approach is just as much about safety as it is education.

If we notice that you might be struggling with a certain weight or movement, we will provide one-on-one coaching to make any necessary corrections and get you back on track. Sometimes this may mean dropping down in weight or taking a step back to address mobility issues. Our coaches are always paying close attention and quick to jump in with constructive feedback. Good form is not always easy but it is worth it and your body will thank us.

An open dialogue between coaches and athletes is very important. If you have any pre-existing injuries or feel discomfort during certain movements, it is imperative that you let us know.

3. Do I already need to be in good physical condition?

No, you do not need to be in good shape before starting CrossFit We welcome people of all ages and skill levels. Remember, success begins with a decision to try. You do not have to qualify or meet any fitness standards to join CrossFit 386. We will work closely with you from day one to identify what your personal goals are and help you achieve them.

There is no shame in scaling a workout to meet your ability or finishing dead last because you have already accomplished so much just by being there. Our team of coaches will always give 100% effort and just ask that you do the same in return.
